This is very Boards of Canada-esque, with the popping drums and such, no doubt you were influenced by them in some way. I really like this, it's very calming and soothing. I gave you a 9 because that sine melody is much too sharp. Otherwise, very nice job sir! Perhaps you could check out my new song, Lucidity that'd be great ;D!
Your absolutley correct,this is heavily influenced by B.o.C along with four tet and the album leaf :D

I really love the beat, nice and pumping like DnB should be! You should probably EQ the strings a bit, more highs, it sounds a bit too muffled. The bass is alright, a full synth bass probably would've suited it better though.

I know exactly what you mean about both the bass and strings, I thought to make the strings sound nicer I would just add reverb to it but I knew something was missing, I will try to clear that up the next song i use strings in!
