Sick

I can't say I understood the relation between the song and the description, but this was sick as. The synths are crispy and sweet, and the drums are punchy and keep their distance from the rest of the song. My only suggestion, maybe a bit more low-end, some extra bass would've made this perfect. Great work :)

Really nice...

I love hearing good progressive house on NG. This really stands out for me; great percussion, soft relaxing synths. I absolutely loved the quiet melody that started at about 1:56, sounded really nice. Great work :)

Djevel responds:

Thanks! :) I'm glad you like it :D

Great Atmosphere

Really eerie and even oneiric. The reversed sounds give the song a really creepy feel, but still leave room for the synths to just let the song roll along at its own pace. Really great, amazing job!

AnubisInc responds:

Thanks very much! You introduced me to a new word as well haha!

Sick

Nothing bad to say, no constructive criticism. This is perfection...

Wow, great energy!

I loved it when the beat dropped, a nice drawn out intro then BAM, straight into some Hard Trance. The lead sounds great, the portamento works very well with this style of Trance. Not much else to say, great job!

Nice Work :)

I like how the song progresses slowly but suddenly at the same time. Pretty much everything sounds great in this, I love the pad especially. I personally thought the piano melody should've been done by a synth, but that's just my opinion. I thought I'd also take this opportunity to tell you that your Walk Alone remix is one of the most amazing songs I've ever heard on here, and I still love listening to it now.

Great work :)

Yodamanjaro responds:

Wow man you're really dating me on this lol that song is OLD. You really gotta go to youtube and search for my new stuff (Derrick Meyer). You can't go wrong with it, you really can't.

voting 10 so you can keep your average :)

It's weird to hear a song here that conveys emotion (in a good way), something I love to hear in music, especially House. The piano and string sections work well together, especially in the intro. The only other thing I have to say is that the sidechain on the synth felt a bit too heavy for my liking, maybe turn the peaking volume down a bit. Otherwise, this is great, keep up the good work ;)

Shoephly responds:

Thanks a lot for the review man, means a lot really! :)

About the sidechaining; I worked on it a really, really long time, with less/more sidechaining, and could never satisfy everyone. So I ended up trying to satisfy myself on that part. xD

Thanks again!

Sounding good

So, this is a WIP I'm guessing? If so, I wanted to share my experience of listening to this:

1. The mastering is great, very crisp and punchy. Doesn't need much changed, and I would love to learn from you :)

2. The bass sounds a bit too.. percussive? That's the best word I could think of, I would just prefer it as a lower, more deep kind of sound, you know? Kind of hard to describe.

3. The drum section sounds great. Good steady kick, punchy snare. The hihats are present but aren't intruding on the rest of the song, they just tick away at their own pace.

Overall, great job on this. Would love to hear the finished version :)

The perfect amount of energy for DnB

You really captured the perfect amount of energy in this song. Heavy, punchy drums, buzzing bass, soft ambience. Only one problem, the pluck got a bit too loud towards the end, not TOO loud, just a bit invasive. This is great :)

pichuscute0 responds:

Yeahh, I know what you mean with the pluck. I need to fix it still. I will probably edit that tonight actually. But thanks alot. :) I appreciate the review and hope ya listen to more of my stuff.

EDIT: I fixed the pluck

Just want to add my two cents

This sounds really good, but as a producer I always hear stuff that I PERSONALLY want to change, not because it doesn't sound good, it's just my own ideas wanting to get out. So here's some tips you MAY (emphasis on the may) want to add to your future productions:

1. Bring out the kick drum - The kick feels very quiet and weak compared to the energy of the rest of the song. Maybe adding a compressor and turning up the post gain?

2. Chord stabs - With a genre like this (Trance\Progressive House maybe?), the song progresses a lot better with a nice defined chord stab leading the song. Using a filter you can build this up throughout the song to create tension and release.

3. Making it just a bit slower - I personally think this would sound a lot nicer if the BPM was a bit slower, 128-135 would be good.

Anyway, take it or leave it, this is really good!

RetromanOMG responds:

You made some really good suggestions, actually. It's ironic that you posted this review, because I've put off uploading it for so long, due to it missing something.

I could mess with band pass filters to get a better effect, and I will change to kicks up a bit. If I can, I'll also make a synth pad to fill out the song more.

As for the BPM, I'm not so sure. That'd probably make it run too long for the tastes of other listeners. Still, thanks for your thoughts.
